It probably comes as no surprise that May is one of my favorite months, especially now that I am a mother. Who wouldn't want to celebrate Mother's Day and your birthday so close together? No one, that's who. Some years it will even fall on the same day, which I love. I celebrated by taking a day off of cooking, cleaning, and picking up after James. All that laziness made me sleepy, so I even squeezed a nap in there. Chris thinks it's hysterical because moms celebrate Mother's Day by pretending not to be mothers. Love it. Elaina cooked for me all day on my birthday. She made me spinach omelettes with feta cheese for lunch, and pasta with Gorgonzola cheese sauce for dinner. I was in heaven. One of my gifts was a panini maker (thanks Mom!) and I have been obsessed ever since. It has been used literally everyday since I opened it. We have made lots of grilled cheese sandwiches, Italian melts, and grilled burritos, and we have no end in sight! The possibilities are endless! It was a great 2 days where I was completely self-indulgent, and now I am trying to rein myself back in. No more boxes of Junior Mints for me.
James has been quite the hoot, even though he is recovering from an ear infection and burst ear drum. I feel like he suddenly dropped all of his baby habits, and is in full blown toddler mode. Today he even learned how to do, as I affectionately call it, the "I want attention and I'll get it anyway I can" Fake Toddler Cry. My ears are practically bleeding after hearing it all day long (It's a good thing he's cute). He has been using his food to practice throwing, and now has quite the arm. We are all on high alert now, as he will randomly decide to chuck whatever food or toy is in his hand. He is definitely all boy! He loves making car and animal noises and now waves bye-bye to his bath when we are all done. I can't believe that I get to play Mom to such a sweet boy. He is learning new things everyday and never ceases to make me laugh. Especially when Mickey Mouse Clubhouse comes on the TV. He has got some dance moves that would put Mickey Mouse to shame! We can't wait to take him to Disneyland next month!
